The Parade Must Go On!

"This is the story of the parade that was cancelled that went on anyway!" (As quoted by some lady in the parking lot of the museum) It was rainy, muddy and dreary outside, and though we should have known better, like many other families today, we didn't get the memo that the parade had been cancelled. Oh well! I had $5 worth of non-refundable Fourth of July decorations attached to the boys' stroller and I wasn't going to let it go to waste! I'm glad other moms felt the same way. We banded together and marched in our own impromtu parade around one block near the museum. Soon, the metaphorical sun began to shine, as the Lee High School Band started to play the Star Spangled Banner. With hands over our hearts and the West Texas wind blowing through our flags, I looked at Kit holding Jack on his shoulders and thought, "This is perfect!"

  1. A true American will be at the 4th of July parade dispite the rain. I'm proud that you took your boys to celebrate our country's independence.
You just taught your sons the first lesson of patriotism. Congrats!
